What a briefing is for

To make one decision before 9am. If it doesn't change what you do that day, it's a newsletter you write to yourself.

The rule

Nothing goes in unless it's actionable or it changed. A good briefing is mostly empty — empty means nothing needs you. Four sections: what broke overnight; what changed (deltas only); what needs a decision (pre-drafted); money in/out (real numbers or omit).

Deltas and real numbers

“Health 94” is noise; “Health 94 → 40, cause: auth failure” is a briefing. And real numbers or none — pull from the bank, not the ledger that reports on the bank. One per day, hard-gated at the send function.
